PRC 14: Maintenance Pump – For Cleaning Pipes for HAGUE 7000 CARBON 14 Bubbler

– Why do you need a PRC 14 Pump? –

Our HAGUE 7000 bubblers use the principle of bubbling in a soda solution for trapping atmospheric 14C.

This highly effective technique, however, results in a gradual buildup of solid materials in the sampling circuit, which therefore needs to be regularly cleaned.

This pump, specifically designed for this purpose, allows for the performance of this preventive maintenance on the pipework of the HAGUE 7000 bubbler quickly and easily for the operator.

– Operating Principle –

The technique of bubbling in a soda solution used in our HAGUE 7000 bubblers allows for rapid and effective trapping of atmospheric 14C.

However, bubbling in the pots generates micro-droplets of the solution, which are carried away and deposited in the circuit, leaving a dry deposit of solid materials (sodium hydroxide and carbonate) in the sampling circuit.

This gradual buildup can clog the circuit after a certain period of operation. It is therefore necessary to clean it periodically to avoid total obstruction. The recommended cleaning frequency is at least once a month (The rate of deposit depends on the soda concentration and the sampling flow rate).

The PRC14 flushing pump has been specially designed to perform the flushing of the pipework on the HAGUE 7000 bubblers using a diluted acid solution. This operation dissolves and evacuates the solid deposits that have accumulated inside the Ø 3 mm stainless steel pipes and in the drilled block, mainly between pots 1 and 2.
